Japanese Choba Dansu - Meiji Period Material - Silver with just the right amountThis Japanese choba dansu merchant chest dates from the Meiji Period (1868 1912). It is made in the traditional Osaka style from kiri wood. It has multiple compartments, drawers & sliding doors. Light, but well made and in the traditional way, this Japanese tansu has its original black painted iron fittings. As with most Japanese furniture, the carpentry is excellent and although it is lightweight, it is extremely well made. It has very functional
